Because of their small size and fast metabolism, ferrets can become critically ill very quickly. The good news, however, is that they are also capable of recovering almost as quickly.

Fortunately, there are few major illnesses that affect ferrets. However, those few can be devastating. This space is reserved for identifying and coping with the care of ferrets who you may suspect of having or who have been diagnosed with one of these illnesses.

  • Adrenal Tumors - Is your ferret going bald?  Should you worry?

  • ECE - Epizootic Catarrhal Enteritis  - The "Green" Virus - One of the most fear-inducing, yet highly treatable illnesses that can strike your ferrets.

  • Insulinoma - Drooling, staggering, staring into space. Now what?
